ANT stands for automatic negative thought. It is estimated that we have about 50,000 to 70,000 thoughts per day. About 95% of these thoughts we thought yesterday and will think again tomorrow. Most of those thoughts are automatic and reflexive. What's more, about 80% of these thoughts are negative.
Many of our ANTs are based on past programming and conditioning. Unfortunately, a lot of that past programming and conditioning limits our potential. We have to stand guard at the door of our minds and be vigilant about what thoughts we habitually let ourselves think and what outside messages and programming we allow to enter in. We have to take control of how we interpret our experiences and put the most empowering frame around those experiences. Many of our thoughts are just below our normal level of awareness - some are so habitual and familiar that we don't even question their validity or usefulness. In order to kill the ANTs, we need to be more present in our thoughts. Eventually, THIS will be the norm.
